9/17/2017 Weekly Message

Good Evening Sandy Plains Families,

This is Mr. Harrington with the Sunday Weekly Message.

School News

  • All Baltimore County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday in observance of Rosh Hashanah.  Schools will be open on Friday.
  • Parents who still need volunteer training can do so online by accessing the BCPS website.  They may also come and speak to Mrs. Wengler any day at school who can provide access to a computer and the online training.
  • Mark your calendars for Tuesday September 26 as we will be hosting two Title One meetings.  The meetings will take place at 9am and at 4pm. The purpose of these meetings to give parents a chance to give input into how we can continue to improve Sandy Plains.  We hope all families will be able to attend at least one of the meetings.
  • On Wednesday September 27th at 3:30pm parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are invited to attend a brief workshop hosted by Mrs. Wengler and Mrs. Weglein about how we will be using Scholastic Newsletters in classrooms.
  • In order to adhere with all BCPS visitor policies and to keep all of our students safe, we require that all visitors sign-in at the main office.  All visitors must also provide a photo ID.  Prior to leaving our building visitors also need to return their ID badge to the main office.  Thanks to all of our families for complying with these procedures and helping to keep our school safe!
  • Our school begins dismissing students at 3:13pm.  Dismissal ends at 3:30pm and at this time students that have not been picked up go to the main office.  After normal dismissal time, students may only be released to an adult that is on their emergency contact list.  The adult must also have an ID.  We strongly encourage all families to pick up their student during our normal dismissal times from 3:13-3:30pm.  Thanks for your help with ensuring all students are picked up from school on time.

PTA News

  • Thanks to everyone who attended our first PTA meeting of the school year.  The next PTA meeting is on Oct. 16th at 4pm.
Thanks for your continued support and have a wonderful evening!
