Principal's Back-To-School Message

Good Day Sandy Plains Families,
This is Mr. Harrington with the Back to School Message. 
I would like to welcome all of our Sandy Plains families back to school and I hope everyone had a wonderful summer!   All of our amazing teachers have already returned to school and are excited to welcome students back on Tuesday, September 4th.
Each Sunday night, I will be sending out the Sunday Weekly Message at 7pm.  The purpose of these weekly messages are to keep all of our Sandy Plains family informed about events and school news. 
School News
  • This Thursday, August 30 is Sneak a Peek at Your Seat and Back to School Night!  We will open our doors at 6pm.  Sneak a Peek at Your Seat will be from 6:00-6:30pm.  We will then begin Back to School Night at 6:30pm.  Back to School Night presentations will be in classrooms.  We will have two informational sessions for families during Back to School Night.  Each will last approximately 30 minutes.  Families are asked to visit their student’s classroom to view the welcome back message and listen to a presentation from their child’s teacher.  After the first session, families that have more than one student may visit another grade level to hear about their grade level information.

      • 6:30-7:00pm Back to School Night Session One
      • 7:05-7:35pm Back to School Night Session Two
  • The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 4.  We are all excited to welcome our students back!  As a friendly reminder, our school doors open at 8:30am.  We encourage all students to show up between 8:30 and 8:45am.  For students that show up prior to 8:30am,  we would like to have all students line up on the line with their grade level listed on it.  We do not have adult supervision outside until 8:30am, which is why we encourage all families to arrive between 8:30-8:45am
PTA News
  • At Back to School Night, our PTA will have a table with registration forms.  We would like to encourage all families to sign-up for the PTA.  Our PTA does so many things for our students and school.  This past year, our PTA donated shirts for field day for all students, purchased classroom supplies, sponsored The Color Run, Spring Flower Sale and Paint Night, provided Rita’s for students at field day, organized Trunk or Treat, and helps provide supplies needed for our 5th Grade Farewell.  As you can see, our PTA does a lot for Sandy Plains students and we truly appreciate it!  Please consider joining the PTA and help continue to make Sandy Plains a special place for all students!
  • Our first PTA meeting for this school year will be on Monday, September 17 at 4pm.  Please join us on Monday, September 17 for the first PTA meeting of the school year!
Once again, welcome back to school and I hope to see all of our families this Thursday night at 6pm for Sneak a Peek at Your Seat and Back to School Night.
